A Good Weekend

I saw this recipe on "Posy Gets Cozy". This is one of my favorite blogs. This is Alicia's Oatmeal Bread. It is wonderful! I made this loaf on Saturday night, and it was gone before noon on Sunday. I just pulled a second loaf out of the oven. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I started my weekend having lunch on Friday with a friend I have had....forever! Well, at least since ninth grade. We talked and laughed and talked and laughed. After lunch, we stopped at a wonderful fabric store. Outside it was snowing like crazy, but inside that store all I could think of was spring. I couldn't resist this Amy Butler fabric. Now I just need to decide what I want to make with it. My daughter suggested an apron, but I'm thinking a cute skirt or a summer dress.

Once I got home, I was all excited about sewing so I got to work on the "Practical Bag" by Grand Revival that I had already cut out. I used some fabric from Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane collection. I love that fabric!

This is the second "practical bag" I have made. It goes together pretty quickly, and it's a perfect size.

Snow and cookies!

This is what we woke up to this morning. It really is beautiful, but it is also late February, and I am finding it a bit difficult to appreciate! So what I decided I really needed was......

I couldn't resist these pretty primrose flowers. When I walked into the grocery store to pick up a few things, they practically jumped into my basket. I love flowers, especially this time of year when everything is usually some shade of gray.
Now the cookies, these are the best chocolate chip cookies ever! The recipe is from allrecipes.com. They are called "award winning chocolate chip cookies". When they say "award winning", I believe them. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I have made these maybe a million times, give or take.....and they always turn out perfect!

The sun came out today! The sky is blue! The snow is melting! It is February in Michigan, and sunshine, let alone a whole day of sunshine, is something to get excited about. Never mind that the sunshine tends to accentuate the dust bunnies and the nose prints on the windows. For now we sit in the sunbeam and enjoy the warmth.
